Are any of you treating your scar (to lessen its appearence)?
My nurse told me that once my staples were out to make sure I used a good but unperfumed moisturiser over my scar as this was as good as most commercial products, I don't know if this is true but I've been only using this and it seems to be working well. My surgeon could not use the same scarline as my two previous C-sections as I'd had severe adhesions he also had to deal with but hey, as jessicajames said, every scar tells a story

I was told at 3 weeks post op I could start scar massage and use of silicone scar reducing pads (CVS brand). It seems that most scar treatments take at least 8 weeks to work. I am not quite one week out, but do plan on treating my scar. I'll post later with the results.

ladybrayton,
I've strated scar massage and it's wonderful! My PT said it's still a bit 'stuck" in the center, but the ends are reacting well. I'm not familiar with the silicone pads you mentioned. I'll have to check them out at CVS next time I'm in town.

luneytunes,
I've read that if you go over your scar gently with a rough wet washcloth that it will help to desensative the area. I'm about 10 days ahead of you so maybe that part of the difference??

I'm 6 weeks post-op....started using 100% cocoa butter as soon as the staples were out. I'm a surgery vet -- gall bladder 28 years ago, thyroidectomy 8 years ago. Believe me, cocoa butter works best.

I just started using Bio-oil and it seems to be working already (four days). It's not really red anymore, alittle pink, and looks like its....umm..."smoothing" out!

I use the scar reducing herbal cream from the Hyster Sisters store, I like to think I am at a holistic spa when I smell it and that makes me feel as if it is working

Are any of you treating your scar (to lessen its appearence)?
I have been using an oil that I ordered online from the UK. It's called skindermapro and they had lots of cool looking before and after pictures of major scars that lessened in appearance. I have used mederma and other expensive creams from the drugstore but I'm not sure how well they work. I had a tummy tuck in 2002 and that scar has always bothered me. I was hoping to have it modified during the hyst but my gyn would not do it so now I have both scars. I already met with a plastic surgeon to see if he could do a scar reduction surgery. I have to wait about 3 months for this to completely heal then save more $$ for the scar reduction. I'm really hoping that this new oil I'm trying will eliminate the need to go into further debt for my vanity. Really not looking forward to any more surgeries. This one was a doozie! Sometimes I think the oil is helping and sometimes I think it's making the scar burn or hurt more. I just don't know but I'll keep you posted.
