9 days post hysterectomy BM pain

Hello! So embarrassed to ask but has anyone had extreme pain after BM this far out? I have been doing well by taking meds, stool softener and miralax. I usually have been having a BM each day. Today after I was done I had horrible pain. I don't know if I hit a nerve or what. I had sharp stabbing pain in my rectum, vagina and up by my tailbone. It lasted about 15 minutes. I took one of my pain pills and I'm praying this doesn't happen again. I've had tiny bits of pain before this but this time was the worst!

I would definitely call the Dr, better safe than sorry.

I experienced pain for 2-3 weeks, would get better than worse, worried me quite a bit, but in the end wasn't a problem.

I would suggest speaking with your doctor's office, but what helped me the most was eating LOTS of fiber rich foods (ex: apples, prunes, raisin bran, and LOTS of water, etc) and using Gas-X. I remember telling my husband after one particularly rough bm that I felt like I had just given birth again!!! My doctor suggested milk of magnesia if all else failed. He said it would be more gentle on my system and I'm 4 weeks out and still have issues off and on, but I can normally eat some prunes and it'll get me over the hump. I hope this helps and you find relief soon

I'm 6 weeks out today and I still have a few issues with BM's. I had the same problem you did right after I stopped taking the pain meds. Doctor said it was normal. Just some advice to you, even if you feel better keep eating the high fiber, drinking lots of water and everything else for a while. Constipation manages to keep sneaking up in me and quite a few of the ladies I've talked to on here.
