Normal or not?

Hi everyone,
I'm not quite 4 weeks post op TAH, I have a couple of questions to ask as I'm not sure whether this is normal or not.
My walking, I still seem to be shuffling along like I was 2 weeks ago, I can't speed up and walk normally no matter how hard I try, I thought I was doing ok until someone saw me today and was quite shocked I was still walking like this coming up to 4 weeks on, I can't stand still for long periods, a couple of minutes and that's enough, my stomach also tends to feel quite heavy.
Also, when I cough, and we all know how much it hurts but sometimes it catches you unaware, anyway my stomach muscles tend to tighten right up for a couple of minutes afterwards, does this happen to anyone else?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Normal or not?

I'm 19 days post-op and I noticed this today at the grocery store. I'm hoping it's because I'm tired because I didn't take a pain pill last night and so I didn't sleep very well. I guess I'll find out tomorrow

Re: Normal or not?

I'm 21 days post op and find I'm still walking much slower too. I'm normally a 'storm the castle" kind of walker, charging ahead quickly. At the end of the day my tummy feels heavier too. Swelling is worse then also.

Re: Normal or not?

I am a slow pokie, too. I thought I was doing well until son took me out to dinner and I had a hard time keeping up with them walking to a table. This last week, though has been a huge improvement for me all the way around. Give it time. In no time you will be running circles around them. In the mean time, let them run the circles for you!

Re: Normal or not?

I am 8 weeks post op and I think I still walk a little slower that I usually do. I know I was still walking like that a month or so ago. I still find that I get tired after a long day of work and kids ballgames and stuff. I think it just take a good long while to get all the way to normal.
Every week is certainly better though.
