Back from the castle

I had a LSH (laparscopic suprapubic hysterectomy) on Wednesday. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what that is it is done laparscopically with three incisions. One in the belly button and two in the pubic line. I got to keep my cervix , however everything else was removed. I had to stay one night in the hospital and according to my dd I will be able to go back to work in two weeks (yeah right). I am doing quite well except for the GAS monster. They did find t hat my ovaries were covered with cysts and I had adhesions wrapped around my intestines other than that I will have to wait
until my path reports come back and I have a follow up on the 12th.
Overall my stay at the castle was ok. I didn't get put into a room until 7;30pm and stayed in the heart cath recovery room until then(there wasn't anyplace to put me). I had to have a catheter put back in because I was unable to urinate on my own and then I began to throw up so they left my IV in too. By morning I felt better and they removed all my tubes and the dd told me I could leave when as soon as I wanted too. So I waited around awhile until I passed a little gas then I went home.
Since then I have been fighting with the gas monster.
Everything was a lot easier than I had imagined. I am very glad to be done with the surgery and I am looking forward to getting through the recovery period(withoutr the gas monster).

Shelle,
Congrats on the accomplishment.
I am scheduled for May 21, LVH keeping ovaries.
Not looking forward to it. I am hoping to only have a 2 week recovery.
Sorry you had a reaction to the anesthesia. Have you had much pain other than the gas?
I heard Gas X works wonders.....
That was so uncomfortable for me when I had the laperoscopy. Felt like my ribs were broken!!
Remember to keep resting and take care of yourself.
You did it!

Welcome Home!

I'm glad all went well....the can be bad normally, and I remember it was very tough from all my laps.

Be careful what you eat, and walk as much as is comfortable (around the house) to help move it.

Gas-X is a big help...

The sisters will be asking lots of questions on this relatively unusual procedure....you'll have to fill us in on the details when you feel up to it.

Great to have you on the other side!

Karen
