Bleeding after Bowel Movement

I had my hysterectomy (removed everything) 2 1/2 weeks ago and did not have a bowel movement until the 5th day. I was actually feeling really good until the first bm. Now I have about 8 bm's a day and the pain is terrible but I start to bleed (vaginally) every time I have a bm. The bleeding is a drip but bright red blood every time. I just called the dr.'s office and they told me I am just healing and to rest. I do not think this is normal and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

I really think this is not normal. I don't know if the nurse is talking to the doctor about this, but I was told I shouldn't have bright red blood. It sounds like the straining (whether you or your bowels) could be causing this? Also, I don't think it seems usual for you to have to have 8 bm's a day. I would check with your doc on this, too. If they ignore it, call your general practitioner.

Please bug your doc until they check into this. I'm sure you've heard, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease." This is so true with a lot of doctors.

I'm so sorry you're having this trouble. Your concerns are valid and your doctor's office should take you seriously.

I did the same thing at the same time. Mine too was after a bowel movement that was really painful. I asked 3 different drs opions and they all said the same. There are some areas still very tender and raw, the bowels and our female organs are very close to one another, so when you have a bowel movement that passing by irritates the other. I was terrifed but after all this and it stopped after a day or two it made sense.

Girls-I had the same problem-excruciationg pain!! (no bleeding tho)The doc told me to eat more BRAN! I got some Post raisen bran and it has saved my life--the pain is almost gone now and I am regular and happy....I eat it =every day.

I too would squeak until heard. Not that I am certain anything is wrong, but I would want to be checked on both accounts.
