8 weeks post op--did I really have surgery?

Yesterday marked 8 weeks since my DaVinci hysterectomy. I just wanted to say, WOW!!!! Aside from 4 small, dark lines on my tummy from my incisions, I would never know I had surgery (oh, except I haven't had a period since September!). I am back to ALL normal activities - exercising(running 3 miles), vacuuming, cleaning, lifting, and yes, even SEX (which, btw, is as great as before!). I have NO pain at all, no discharge at all, and my energy level is the same as it was prior to the surgery. I have my ovaries still, but started taking a new vitamin and my PMS (irritability) has diminished dramatically.

I am very empathetic to those that have had setbacks and are not recovering as quickly. I am posting this, not to brag, but to let other sisters know that it IS possible for some of us to have this surgery with no complications, and to return to a normal life within a short amount of time. We all have VERY different experiences, our bodies react differently, we have very different tolerances to pain. I credit my "easy" recovery to being VERY healthy prior to the surgery, having an AMAZING surgeon, a VERY high tolerance to pain, walking every day from day 1, following all doctors orders, and listening to my body tell me when I needed to rest.

I thank my WONDERFUL doctor for giving me this option and doing such an amazing job with the surgery. I would do this over again in a heartbeat!!!

What is the name of the vitamin you are taking? I would love to have one that would help w/the mood swings from my pms. I only have 1 ovary.

Re: 8 weeks post op--did I really have surgery?

The Vitamin I am taking is called Optivite P.M.T.
(manufactured by Optimox Corp)
It is in a plain white bottle with a plain white label with blue writing.

It is for Premenstrual Tension. It is sold over the counter. I found it at amazon.com. After I ordered it online I found it at the small pharmacy in my doctor's office building.

I have been taking them for about 6 weeks, and I REALLY believe my overall disposition is much brighter than it has been in awhile. Normally, the week before my period, I can't even stand to be around myself - lol - and since taking these, I have SO much more tolerance and much less irritability! Good luck in finding these yourself!

It's good to hear that you feel great at 8 weeks post-op. I'll be 4 weeks post-op tomorrow from a Da Vinci LAVH. I want to start the new year feeling great and be back to normal as much as possible. And, your story gives me inspiration that I will be in a much better place at 8 weeks post-op.
