Weight Gain

Hey ladies. I had my surgery on Friday. I weighed myself that morning - like always. I didn't eat anything Friday and only had a piece of toast on Saturday. I weighed myself this morning and I gained 10 pounds! How does that happen. The only thing I have had to drink is water - so I know I didn't get any calories from that? Anyone else have this.

Your tissues are all swollen with fluids from the trauma of surgery... Like if you sprain your ankle... It is the body's defense system... It will go away eventually... For me at 9 months out, I still get swollen if I overdo.
Hang in there... it does get better.

Weight Gain

Hi,

My weight was also up right after surgery. Two weeks later, it was gone with a couple of extra ones thrown in.

It'll go. Don't skimp on healthy food in the meantime though. You need to keep nourished to heal.

They give you IV fluids before during and after the surgery. Those fluids stick around longer plus the extra swelling. Don't NOT eat. You will be asking for more trouble...

Weight Gain

Hi Angel,
Yes, please eat! As the ladies here have said, it is the fluids from the surgical trauma. We all are/have struggled with it during our recoveries. Try not to focus on your scale right now. Just focus on healing well and eating healthy.

I agree eat, drink plenty of water and lot's of rest. Don't worry about the weight right now. Focous on a speedy recovery.

Weight Gain

Not bragging, but I lost weight. About 5 lbs and I'm sure it would be more if I wasn't swollen either. I was on a clear liquid diet 2 days before surgery and that continued for a total of 4 days..only liquids..then I lost a very heavy Uterus that was the size a 4-5mos pregnancy.

So what i'm saying is that I thought it would be more, but I'm happy for the 5 lbs and incentive to keep the good eating up!
