Shaving - TAH

Hi girls,

Forgive me in advance for my question but I would really like to hear from you about this.

I had a TAH, which is very low on my abdomen. So, when did you shaved over the incision? I always like to be "clean" but it looks funny that I was able to shave expect for te incision part. It looks like a bad mustache.

Again, sorry if I offend any one of you, that's not my intention but I have nowhere else to ask.

Thank you!

Re: Shaving - TAH

I think it might be a little soon, especially if you are using a blade razor. Do you still have any glue or stitches? I would ask you Doc about this, you don't want to harm your incision site. My incisions are high up, belly-button level, so this was not a problem for me.

Re: Shaving - TAH

No, I don't have stitches anymore as it looks like its all closed. I got an appointment in 2 weeks, I'll ask him. I just have a little OCD and every time I see it, I just want to take the razor and take it all off, hehe.

Good thing I'm also using a silicone patch my doctor gave me.

Thanks for replying.

Re: Shaving - TAH

I would be very careful, you could get an ingrown hair, which can be painful in itself, and fooling around trying to fix it would be irritating. You could get an infected follicle. You could use scissors and use a thin comb as a guard, would still be stubble but better than the alternative.
Your mustache comment made me giggle!

Re: Shaving - TAH

Love the mustache comment - made me laugh and reminded me of story.

My friends mum (65+) has ongoing gynae treatment and has visited same gynae consultant regularly over the years.
She got the feeling at the end of one visit that the consultant thought she was a bit hairy down there - so next time she went she trimmed herself by just holding up some of the hair and cutting across with scissors.
At end of visit she said 'did you notice I've tidied things up?' And consultant replied ' yep, I noticed you've got a fringe now'. Still makes me chuckle

What can I say? Even if it hurts, I think one of the best medicines ever is laughter! When you laugh you feel better, when you feel better you heal faster!

A fringe!! Hahaha
