kept ovaries...what is normal with any hormonal changes...hot/cold, etc.

I had my TVH on 12/3 and kept both my ovaries. Mostly I just have occasional discomfort, mostly fatigue. I wanted to know if it is normal to feel hot/cold extremes...but not necessarily hot flashes per say? I seem to get warm all of a sudden at different times, often during the night, but it can be during the day too. Just wondered if others that kept their ovaries have had similar expierences. I don't go for follow-up for another 6 days.

Hi.
Your body is going to need some time to adjust to a new normal. It took a while for me, but eventually, at 3 months or so, every thing calmed down and my ovaries statred a new 'cycle'. Now, 2 years post-op I have many of the pms symptoms of a period, no bleeding. I can tell by a pimple on the face or extra moodiness that would have had a period at a particular time. I would talk to your DR. about hormone levels, may make you feel better.

My TAH was 11/16; my horomones are just a roller coaster, I also kept my ovaries, I get hot then cold, then OK. No moodiness though

I had Total Davinci Hysteretomy on 11/15 keeping my ovaries. I too am having episodes of Hot and Cold breaking into a slight sweat. I was advised at my 2 week appt this is normal. Blood flow to ovaries is temporarily cut off during surgery due to uterus etc being diasected. Blood flow to ovaries then has to be re-routed. My GYN says it will resolve in time.

Yep. Have both of my ovaries and I used to be hot all the time. Like freezing my husband out at night. Now I am always cold. It is weird.

Thank you all for your input! This is just one more reason I love this site. I can ask a question and at least one or two of us has had some expierence to whatever we are going through. I so appreciate your responses and good to know it is normal. I will still talk to the gyno next week too
