Re: Severe pain and have to wait.....PLS HELP

Well, if in pain and fertility is not an issue, some would try less invasive first just for that reason, less invasive. ;-) Healing froma hysterectomy and an ablation was absolute night and day for me. Hyst. was weeks long to recover, where ablations was a few days. A lot more serious complications, even though rare, can occur with hyst., whether during surgery or later down the road. But if nothing else works, whether medicine or treatments(not just ablations), that's when the last resort of a major surgery would be taken, I guess is what he's thinking. Don't know for sure. It's odd he would do an ablation if adeno. doesn't respond well with ablation and he knew you had adeno. I'd be confused about that too. :-)

Re: Severe pain and have to wait.....PLS HELP

I am trying to keep the faith here that my doc knows I am in pain and hope that he understands (the best he can) that this is a very difficult decision and that I need to be treated and not pushed aside. I had my back checked out by an orthopedic surgeon, a neurologist, and a neurosurgeon. I can get a steroid epidural shot in my low back, but it's only temporary and you can't do it often. They called today and can't do it until January 9, 2010. LOL...I said ok! Maybe it'll be before my surgery and help with the pain...

LOL. I won't, I try and be as nice as possible when talking with all office personnel. I know getting on their bad side is not going to help me.

Re: Severe pain and have to wait.....PLS HELP

Well I made yet another call today to my OB/GYN to leave a message to get a call back. She asked what it was in reference too and I said the referral he gave me for a hysterectomy. It was supposed to be done soon, and I have no even scheduled yet and have been told it will be a month. So, I can't wait to see if and when I get a call back. If not, I will start calling the answering service tonight. He can't just abandon me. At this point I feel like someone else posted on here, that he should have thought twice about the possibility that the ablation could make the adeno worse. I was never told that. He needs to finish what he started here with my treatment. I believe the adeno had become much worse as far as pain since the abaltion. I don't blame him, but I feel like he just dropped the ball on me here by not making sure that there is a reasonable treatment plan in place.

Re: Severe pain and have to wait.....PLS HELP

Are there other non-ob doctors in his practice? Can someone in the practice call you back today? It seems very odd to me that no one has called you back yet. Severe pain and surgery planning are good reasons to receive a call back. I am thankful my Gyn practice doesn't do any Ob so I am not at the mercy of deliveries. I think you have been more than patient, it is time - today - for someone to help you.

Re: Severe pain and have to wait.....PLS HELP

Well my original OB/GYN called me back and of course I was in the bathroom and missed the call. I called the office back and they said sorry he left for the day! I was like you have to be kidding I have been calling him for two days and just missed the call by one minute. He left a message and you could tell he was in a car, so good ole' caller ID and I called him back, on his cell......Big "no no" but I did it anyway.
I filled him in on what the specialist said, and how I was at the bottom of her list. She is in a huge endocrinology/fertility practice...Not sure why I am seeing this kind of doctor? He said she specializes in pain, but the office is all about fertility.......EVERYWHERE....It's strange. I told him how she wants to do the da vinci because they think I have endo with the adeno now and it will allow her to clean it up much better than manually.
He said OH if she (specialist) is going to do a da vinci that is by far the BEST thing, easiest recovery....blah blah blah. I just said look, I saw her and she agrees I need the hyst, but her surgery secretary who does booking is out sick, I saw this doc on Monday, and they will try to call me by NEXT week and they're booking a month out for the da vinci. I told him I cannot wait that long and this is not some elective thing I want to have done, I am in severe pain. I want to go to the ER everyday. I also said ya know if I hadn't had the ablation and was still bleeding like before I would be getting something done, but because I am in pain with no blood now everyone is blowing me off. I told him how she looked at me and said Oh I don't give percocet...What?????? I was like ok, great I need surgery. He said he will give me percocet until the surgery and thinks I should wait for the da vinci, or he said if you want I will squeeze you into MY surgery schedule for tuesday but it will be an abdominal through your c-section scar. Much longer recovery!! I could care less if I had the regular laparoscopy or the da vinci, the doctors are the ones pushing that. I asked him to meet me in the middle here and make a call to her and get this booked sooner. He said he would definitely do that for me. I wish I asked him if he did the da vinci, but I assume he doesn't if he's sending me to her. I have an uneasy feeling about her now. After this surgery is she not gonna treat my pain or what? The percocet comment was strange. I don't know if I should let her do it now. I think a good doctor would take care of me a little better than this. Maybe I should consider the extended recovery and have an abdominal? Any opinions on this? Sorry I am ranting......

The Call Came!! Something is very wrong with this picture!

I have been waiting two days for the specialist's surgery secretary to call me, have severe pain, earlier posts about adenomyosis, and had an ablation. I am having severe pain all the time. I decide to call the office myself this morning and I get the surgical secretary who is supposedly out sick, and after two calls, the first transfer to her line it rang and rang and rang. She answers the second time and I tell her my name, tell her I need to book a da vinci hyst with the doc, and she says..yeah I haven't gotten to you yet, she gave it to me yesterday! Nasty too!! I said ok, well I just spoke with my OB and he said he will call her, due to the pain I need it done asap, after holidays but beginning of January, and she laughs and says I don't even know if you can get it in January they only do the robot in one room. Maybe I can get you in at the end of December, I don't know, I have to talk to doctor and don't know when I can call you back. She was a total *****!!!! Ya know what, right now I feel like this practice is NOT for me. Between the doctor and her snotty little comments to me about how she doesn't prescribe pain meds, and her treating me like I'm having a nose job I am disgusted!! I told my hubby maybe this is a sign. Maybe I should just have my own doctor do this through my belly. He said no we can find someone else that does da vinci. Whatever....I am so disgusted with how she spoke to me I am shaking right now. What the??

Re: The Call Came!! Something is very wrong with this picture!

I had a situation where one of docs nurses acted like a moron too. After I told him what was going on he apologized and said he would talk to her about being sensitive to patients individual situations. His explanation was while the response was definately wrong, they do become kind of calloused to it because they see so many women for hysterectomies everyday that it is easy to forget how hard it is for some of as individuals.

There is a DaVinci robot nearby, but i have opted to have my doc do it, just because I don't want have to deal with a whole new set of potential idiots!

Hang in there, hopefully they can get it together for you very soon! Hope you can get some relief for your pain in th meantime as well.
