heard the word "mass", now I am scared

I had my TAH on October 3rd of last year for fibroids and stage IV endo....Since I was only 30 the dr advised me to keep my right ovary (which was in good shape).

It has been almost been 10 months and I was feeling really good until about a month ago. Suddenly all the old familiar symtoms returned....I have lower pelvic pain (left side), lower back pain, mood swings, nausea, painful bowel movements and just not feeling myself...

I seen my dr on Tuesday and while examining me he found a 'mass' on my left side. From what he could feel, he thought it was attached to my vaginal cuff, bowel and possibly my colon...That word mass scares me...He has scheduled me for a ultrasound (inside and out) on Thursday of next week. He is thinking it could be scar tissue or adhesions, but won't know until he sees the results of the ultrasound. The part that worries me most is that these symptoms have come on so fast and would I have these symptons with scar tissue???

I have a dear friend who is battling OVCA for the third time and seeing what she has gone through has really impacted me...Am I just being a hypochondriac?

Any input would be greatly appreciated......thank you for listening...this website it surely a gift from God.

Hi I know exactly what you mean when you hear the word mass.. Well I went in May for my annual check up and when she checked me she said she found a mass too. And then I had a script for a transvaginal sonogram and abdominal sonogram that read Pelvic mass... I was so scared and when I had the transvaginal sonogram it hurt really bad so again I got scared because those are not supose to hurt at all..long story short I ended up haveing a hydrosalpinx (enlarged fallopian tube) and had surgery to remove it.. It was BENIGN thank god.. So all that worrieing did me know good .. Try to wait to see what the sonogram says ... Try to stay as calm as you can until you hear anything other wise....I know easier said then done. Good luck

I also totally understand how you feel. I had my TAH back in 2001, left both ovaries, and then diagnosed with a right ovarian mass in June of this year. As of today I am 3 weeks post op from surgery.

Unfortunately, my case was diagnosed as stage 3C ovca.

Stay hopeful, you have alot of good things going for you. Your doctor just had a good look at the ovary in October......your doctors seem to be pretty optimistic

My doctors did not even biopsy my mass. My CA125 was extremly high and of course the mass needed to come out.

I will be praying for a good result from your ultrasound next week....keep thinking positive thoughts....and please keep us posted......

Finding out you have a mass is very scary but stay positive. I know how you feel when it comes to feeling sick all the time it really wears you down. I agree with basketnut it sounds like your doctors are positive and responding to this quickly which is diffently helpful when you dont know whats hapening inside. I really hope you feel better and you can read your body the best and you know when something isnt right. I diffently dont think you are being a hypochandriac you are concerned about your health which is the most important thing.
