post op guidance

i am on day 10 of post op....any thing i need to know, i have had two c-sections and prepared myself that this healing was going to be similiar....man did i fool myself. i wake up one morning fine, slept good, then all of a sudden i am sick, in pain, and just downright ready to go back to bed, then the next day, slept horrible but could move a mountain. i was not nervous about the surgery, just the recovery and i think i am setting my expectations too high. can anyone offer any advice, things to watch for, things to help the time pass, also have a fear of not wanting sex once i am able to. i had a high desire for sex pre surgery....are my chances for that desire to remain the same?
i had TAH, bilateral ovaries removed, cervix removed. and now am on 1mg daily of hormone.

I'm only 5 days post-op and feel where you're coming from. I had set myself up mentally to pretty much stay in bed up to my two-weeks mark. My problem is over-doing when I am up then feeling really yucky until I take a pill and sleep it off. Almost like starting a new day. lol

As for the sex drive, I certainly do hope it comes back. I had the TAH/BSO with removal of the cervix also. I think my dh is hoping that it calms mine down some.

I hope you even out. It's miserable feeling you're on a "not so fun" roller coaster ride.

s, Prayers, and Luck,
Char

I am 4 1/2 weeks post op and did I ever feel like you in the beginning. I would over do it and feel awful, then get a good nights sleep, wake up feeling great only to overdo it again. Once I realized that resting would help me heal better i started to improve. I had a set back with and infection but since then I have felt much better. I really turned the corner at 4 weeks. Hang in there, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi panjibear!

You might find some helpful information concerning your recovery stage at this point, on the following page:

1-2 Weeks Post-Op Checkpoint

For most hysterectomy patients, after all the healing and full recovery has taken place (which can be several months or more for those with an abdominal incision), they find that if their sex life was satisfactory in the past, it returns to its former level of enjoyment. Try not to worry about it at this point.

Be sure to take good care of yourself during this delicate, early post-op recovery period.

Many s and Best Wishes,

All I can say is just take it day by day. I shuffled around quite a bit the first few weeks.

Have you put a chair in the shower? I really recommend this for everyone. It is hard to believe how tiring it is showering.

Sex was scary the first time, but after the first time I was fine. I was so used to it being painful like before that I was just a wreck. For me at least, it is much better.

Hang in there. Sleep, read, but please don't do anything strenuous. My week 4 I was lifing and pulling and my incision started to bleed. Do as you are told. Happy healing!
