home 2 days post op

just letting everyone know that your surgery will be ok.
i was diagnosed with complex cysts on both ovaries and fibroids on march 14
my surgery was monday march 26th...we were afraid it was cancer, since my mom died of ovarian cancer
anyway, doctor said it was all endometriosis
the surgery took over 2 hours because i had alot of adhesions from prior abdominal surgery and i lost alot of blood, but here i am home on the 28th and i'm feeling great
the surgery still hurts, hurt alot more than i expected, but that is because of my adhesions, i'm sure
it felt alot like really, really, bad cramps
believe me i took those pain shots every 10 minutes like they said, but i haven't had any pain medication since i came home
hormone replacement started today and i feel like myself...not the screaming banshee everyone convinced me i was going to turn into....the only thing i had was a small headache
hope everyones surgery is as sucessfull as mine

Nadine - Glad your home and surgery was successful.

Since you're only 2 days post you've still got some anest. in your system....which could be why you're not having to take any pain meds...don't be fooled by this....it's best to stay ahead of the pain. Don't let it creep up on you before you take something.

REST, REST, REST - feet up...drink LOTS and LOTS of water and juice. Stay away from carbonated drinks and gasy foods for awhile.

I had tah/bso last March...and on top of the external incision you've got LOTS of internal stitches that need to heal. No bending, lifting, pushing, pulling!! Follow the drs. restrictions to a "T".
