Belly still feels numb

I'm just over 6 weeks post-op and my belly still feels numb. The area below my incision is still completely numb, mom was checking the incision to be sure it still looked healthy (it needs to be checked daily since I had an infection) and she found a red spot below the incision. She touched it and I didn't even feel her touching it. How long does the numbness last? I thought it would be gone by now, or at least have SOME feeling back. Also, my extreme upper right thigh also has that numbness. Has anyone else experienced that? I have my 6 week checkup on Monday morning, so I will be asking the doctor these questions, but I was just wondering what others experienced.

Belly still feels numb

Sue,
I am almost 12 weeks post-op and I am still numb above and below the incision. I am beginning to think it's going to stay that way. Hope this has helped!!

Belly still feels numb

Iam 5 months out and I am still numb ABOVE the incision. It has improved, but vewry slowly. I am also still tender around the abdomen. I guess it takes time.

Belly still feels numb

I had a TVH 1 month ago BUT I had abdominal surgery last summer that STILL has a small numb spot above the incision. The area has shrunk and shrunk in that triangle between my belly button and the incision but it HAS shrunk and gotten much smaller, slowly but surely. This kind of healing can truly take up to a year (and in a few cases, a bit longer). It will get better but it can take a LOT of time. Jut be patient with yourself--it IS mjor surgery and it will take time to completely heal. Sending {{{hugs}}}................

Belly still feels numb

Hi ladies, I can tell you from my two c-sections that I didn't regain full feeling for almost two years. Of course, I'm only three weeks post op from my TAH, so I'm still really numb now, but I'm guessing it will be about the same. I wouldn't worry about it.

Belly still feels numb

It's been six years since my surgery (vertical incision). The feeling around my incision has come back, but the scar, from top to bottom, is still numb.

Belly still feels numb

My doctor told me that numbness around and above the incision is normal, and can last for months. But I'm not sure about the numbness you are feeling below the incision and on the thigh -- I'm not sure if that is something different.
