Post Op survival package ideas

My SIL is getting her ovaries removed today (we had our uterus' removed around the same time, endo is spreading to her kidneys so dr suggested taking ovaries to stop it from spreading to other organs). This operation is requiring an abdominal incision, where before ours were both TVH. I am wanting to send her a care package, what are some items that you all might suggest I send to her that would make life easier??? Thanks

Do you have to mail the package? If so, I would suggest a gift certificate (or payment) for a local medical equipment rental store (renting one of those tables that slide over your bed was a great move for me--only about $20 a month and worth every penny), a favorite book or two, a Hyster Sisters journal to chronicle her surgery and keep notes, maybe a pill dispenser with days of the week to keep track of what medicines she has taken, and if your budget allows, maybe a favorite CD and/or DVD she can watch when she is taking it easy. If the budget is even greater, maybe a gift certificate for a house cleaning by a local housecleaning firm.

If she is local and you can deliver it yourself, you might want to give her a case of good bottled water (sports caps are helpful) to have within easy reach of her bed, and maybe some of her favorite chocolate. (Chocolate doesn't mail very well this time of year.)
