Can you wear socks in the OR?

I wore my Halloween socks since it was on Halloween. I changed into some sterile, no-slip booties from the castle for the actual surgery and then changed back. My nurse told me that they didn't want personal socks in the OR because they were "full of germs".

I was dressed (like they used to do with princesses in the middle ages, you know) in the white, comfortable TED socks. Undressed them the day after.

My pre-surgical nurse just called to confirm some things with the procedure tomorrow. The last thing she said was "The most important thing... our operating rooms are freezing, so MAKE sure you bring your socks!" Nothing is more miserable than cold feet... no pun intended.

The surgical center gave me the anklets with tread to wear. No teds, but I had some compressionn thingy attached to a machine that massaged my lower legs (it felt soooo gooood), trust me once that anesthia hits you, you won't care who see those puppies. God bless you on your upcoming surgery.

They gave me slipper socks to wear! Good luck and speedy recovery!
