Upcoming hysterectomy (7/11): Where should my husband sleep during my recovery?

For those of you who have already had their hysterectomy, wondering if your husband/partner shared a bed with you during recovery?

I know my husband won't mind sleeping in the spare room, but I'm just wondering how most ladies felt sharing a bed afterward.

Thanks~

Re: Where should my husband sleep?

We have a king size bed. He slept on his side and I mine. No problems.

Re: Where should my husband sleep?

We shared a bed from the 1st night. I tried sleeping in my recliner and on the couch but couldn't do it. There weren't any problems with sharing a bed. He was occasionally woken up when I needed a pain pill or if I was restless but he didn't mind, especially since he was off work the first week.

Re: Where should my husband sleep during my hysterectomy recovery?

I don't have a husband, but I did want someone within earshot. My sisters and elderly parents came to stay with me for the first few days and I woke up one morning and realized to my horror that the parents both slept with headphones! I would have had to yell pretty loud to rouse them in the middle of the night!

Re: Where should my husband sleep during my hysterectomy recovery?

I ended up sleeping on the couch. My first night home I found that I was rolling from side to side so much that it became too painful. The couch kept me in one position most of the night. I spent 4 nights there before I went back to my bed.

Re: Where should my husband sleep during my hysterectomy recovery?

It may depend on the type of bed you have. If we had a regular bed, it would be fine with dh in here with me. But we have a select comfort bed. He crawled in bed last night (my first night home) for just a few minutes, and I knew it wasn't going to work. Every small move he made made my side move and jiggled my sore belly. So he slept on the couch. If I need help, I call him or dd with my cell phone.

Re: Where should my husband sleep during my hysterectomy recovery?

We're already not sleeping in the same bed. Right now, the couch is the only place I'm comfortable enough to sleep through the night. I imagine I'll stay on the couch for a few weeks after the surgery.
