Eight weeks post hysterectomy.
Let me start by saying that if it weren't for this site I would feel alone and crazy at this point. I continue to have pain in my lower abdominal area simple activities make it worse. My digestive system is all messed up nausea, bloating, and gas. Even sitting to long causes me to have additional pain. Fatigue has been difficult for me I don't have half the energy I use to and just doing things around the house and small errands makes me tired. I think the most difficult part has been the doctor saying everything looks good and the pressure from society that think I should be ok by now. Let's not forget what resting and being less active for this length of time does to a person mentally. For my own sanity I'm taking this one day at a time and taking it slow, after all this is the only body I have!

Eight weeks post hysterectomy.
I totally understand. My case was a bit of a unique case so Ive been on bedrest for almost 7 weeks. I feel great and would love to do more but because my healing could be a bit different my doctor has been taken all the precautions he can. Every week I've been in the office with the exception of this last time where he gave me a two week break and I go back Friday which will be 7 weeks and 1 day exactly. I have done well for me being the busy body and actually following directions in all this but it does take a toll on the sanity at times because I really want to just get out of the house or out of the bed for that matter and my two children are ready for it to. I am wondering from the constant bedrest will my energy level be anywhere near normal when I start to ease back into life. I feel great and for the most part don't have any issues. Still have drainage and wish it would finally stop because at this point I'm not sure what it can be as my doctor says I'm healing well and things look good but there is more drainage than he would like to or normally sees at this rate. There is no infection but constant drainage. I never thought I would be so ready to vacuum or pick up a bag of sugar but I am. Know you are not alone take it slow and listen to your body. My friend had one two years ago and she said it took her about a year to fully heal and there were times she tried to push but internally her body said no. She said she knows it's hard but in the long run remembering the internal stuff heals at a slower rate than the external is what we should be aware of in this process and when we get to the time where internally we healed we will be thankful we didn't push it. You're not alone I feel your pain

Re: Eight weeks post op
Hi
I too am 8 weeks post op . Before the operation although in pain had plenty of energy and busy, busy, busy.
I had a few problems with pain relief and vertigo and stayed in hospital for 5 days. Took all the advice take it easy rest, walk. Then at 6 weeks more pain, back to hospital to be told I have a clot and to take it easy. I try and walk, weather permitting around 3 Km each day then rest. Now at 8 weeks I have zero energy by the afternoon and my tummy is hard and swollen and the only way to relieve it is to lay down flat in bed! My consultant says I'm doing well, maybe I'm not a very patient patient, but I thought by now at 8 weeks plus I would getting some way back to my old self! HELP xx

Eight weeks post hysterectomy.
Your tummy sounds like mine I feel like it's trying to rebuild it self and it taking my energy with it. The lack of energy is something that the doctors don't tell you about and it's difficult going so slow! My only comfort to my stomach pain is also to lie down. But I have learned to listen to my body because I end up paying the price if I don't and hurt more. Hang in there and know that your are not alone!

Eight weeks post hysterectomy.
Projectelc, perhaps I can help with your digestive issues. As I've seen in this forum many times, the surgery can have a profound effect on the digestive system, and it's quite common for issues to persist this far out. It sounds like your digestive system is still a little sluggish, so be sure you're taking regular, short walks, even if you need a nap afterwards, to get things moving. Having a hot beverage can also help; my top picks include peppermint tea, and a glass of warm water with the juice of half a lemon. Also try supplementing your diet with magnesium, which promotes proper bowel function; food sources include leafy greens, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate. Nausea is commonly related to a sluggish GI tract; if nothing much is coming out the bottom, then the stomach won't want much of anything coming in, so getting things moving should help with that. Ginger is another well-known stomach remedy, so have some crystallized ginger, ginger tea, or flat ginger ale - the fizz can bother your stomach. Also avoid hard to digest foods until things return to normal; that includes legumes, onions and garlic, cruciferous vegetables, cucumbers, melons, pears, and artificial sweeteners. Here's hoping you'll be over these issues soon, and back on the road to recovery!
