Re: Pain control

I am scheduled Next week for DaVinci, and I asked my Dr about it, and he said "you will not it, if you need something we will give you an injection, but trust me you will not need it"

Re: Pain control

I know my dr does the morphine button in the hospital. He also does pain meds for home. I personally didn't take them after my last 2 surgeries. I am afraid I won't feel something bad that I need to know about.

I'm sure if you ask, the will give you some. I think it just depends on your threshold.

I hope you are pain free!

Re: Pain control

Pain management is very important, if your body is combating pain the energy isn't going to healing as it should. The hospital knows that and they are on top of it from my experience. They were asking me I didn't have to call at all. They gave an injection into my IV. I was very comfortable in the hospital. Only needed for a couple days once I got home. After that ibuprofen as needed. Don't feel like a wuss or anything if you have to get something this is MAJOR surgery. You do not want the pain to get out of control. As far as feeling good you probably will which is decieving to a lot of DaVinci patients. This surgery is the same surgery as the other hysterectomy's on the inside. Plus you never know what other repairs they may have to do on the inside. So you will need to pamper yourself regardless of how good you "Feel". Good luck

Re: Pain control

My doc doesn't do the pump for DaVinci's either. Not sure what I'll be getting in the hospital, but for home I have Vicodin (only enough for 5 days, max) and 800mg Ibuprofen. Because I have fibromyalgia, I'm particularly concerned about good pain management, and will definitely stay on top of it.
