Had my SAH on Dec 12th, 2007, at 38 years young. It has changed my perspective on life a little. I used to think I was old because I was close to 40, but now that I had a hysterectomy before 40, I feel quite young, as in OMG, I had a hysterectomy before I turned 40!

It's a long, slow recovery, but now I feel great and the surgery is a distant memory. Remember to take care of yourselves everyone, and to take plenty of naps!! I wish I had taken more, LOL.

Also, this site is absolutely, totally, completely the best in the world. Every ache or pain or emotion you feel will be talked about by someone on this site and then you will not feel so crazy, alone, etc. This site was my therapy session and my doctor, because the doctors tell you nothing about your recovery.

Your sisters here will help you along the way!

Good luck and God bless,
Kelly

I am 35 and tomorrow will be 3 weeks post op with a TAHBSO. So glad I did it. My Mom, Aunt, and Grandma all had their hysters at young ages too, but I'm the first in my 30's. I already feel so much better!

I'm 36.

My LAVH was supposed to be this morning but now its delayed 6 more hours. I got to come home for a few hours. Thank God cause I was going crazy sitting in the waiting room. Not that sitting at home is a ton better.

Welcome! I just turned 39 and I am having TAH 3/24/08 due to anemia and fibroids. I always thought a hysterectomy in your 30's was really young. Since I've been on this site, I found out that I was wrong. Best Wishes!

Hello,

I am 34 and am almost 5 weeks post op and I am doing great! 30's did seem young to me too but the more time i spend here at Hystersisters the more i see age does not seem to factor in too much. Maybe the medical field is learning more and more not to wait to fix problems till we have suffered for too long. Good luck with your surgeries and recoveries everyone!
