Surgical Menopause

I'm only 4 days post-op, but am already having a LOT of problems with surgical menopause... The hot flashes leave me SOAKED in sweat, and the crying comes on so suddenly it scares me. I just burst into tears and the floodgates swing open, and I can't stop it!! Dr. says "no HRT" if I can stand it, because of the excessive endo, and honestly, I DON't want to give that ANY chance to grow back. She warned me of the hot flashes, but not the crying jags. I sob so hard that it hurts my belly, which in turn causes me to cry even more! My family (especially DH) has been helpful and supportive, but I don't know how long this may go on... It's only been 4 days... Please tell me it gets better...

Surgical Menopause

Hi,

I had TAH RSO about three months ago. The first few days home from the hospital I had terrible sweats. They soon eased off and I did'nt have too many tearfull days. My problem was I was very very moody*punch*

I still have one ovary but whether it still works is the question???? I had endo too so I think you have to try to do as your doing. You are only 4 days out. Your body is still in shock, give your self alittle time. Try not to beat yourself up for being down. Its all part of the op. My mum had both ovaries removed and completed the menapause in 2 weeks.

See how you fair over the next week or so and if things are too tough tell your Dr and have a little help if you need it.I send you a for the time you are low.

and take things easy. Let us know how you are going.

for now. Tricia x x x

Surgical Menopause

Hi,

I am sorry you are having these awful symptoms of menopause. If the crying and depression get overwhelming you might ask the Dr about the anti-depressant Effexor to help with this and hot flashes. There are several ladies that take this and it has been perscribed for both symptoms for ladies who cannot take hrt.

I hope you feel better soon. It is not easy going through surgical menopause, but there are other meds dr can give you to help you.

surgical menopause

Hi,

I am 8 weeks post-op and at about 5 days post-op, I began to experience some very upsetting symptoms - crying, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc. My doctor put me on Effexor and it's helped tremendously. Eventually I will get my hormones regulated, but until that time, the effexor is allowing me to function. Think about it - you'll feel better.

Surgical Menopause

Hi-
I have endo also, and my doctor prescribed an antidepressant to help with mood swings. It also helped with hot flashes/night sweats. Not 100%, but enough to make it okay for me. Please call your doctor and ask! I wish you well.
