Am I alone

I had a TAH ovaries removed on 2/2. My only instructions were to not lift over 20lbs. I'm on percocet my incision is healing really well. I feel awesome and am doing everything that I did prior to surgery. I did five loads of laundry, vacumed, mopped drove five days post op. Anyone else out there like me? Is this normal ?

Re: Am I alone

Thats wonderful you feel so good!
I also had TAH on 1/31 I feel really good. I do get tired more easily but all in all I feel really well.
Per my doctors instruction before I left the hospital vacuuming is one thing NOT to do. Something about the muscles you use to push the vacuum need time to heal, also sweeping the floor is a no-no.
I am on driving restriction till tomorrow then free at last!

Re: Am I alone

I had my surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago and I feel great also. I feel like I can do all the things you mentioned, however, my friends and BF will not let me do any of them. LOL. They come over regularly and clean, bring food, take me to lunch, pick up the mail, etc. If they see that I have done anything they think I shouldn't I usually get a scolding. LOL. Take it easy. Remember you have internal healing to do also

Re: Am I alone

The percocets are probably hiding your pain. Please stop doing what you are doing and let yourself heal. You only have one chance to heal right and you deserve that chance.

Re: Am I alone

I had surgery 2/1 and was told not to lift over 10lbs and walking only. I am afraid you may hurt yourself internally. I also feel good enough to return to normal but I get tired very quickly. Do you feel exhausted or any pain after a busy day? I agree with Danni3113, percocet may be hiding your pain. Maybe check with your doc again. It's easy to think you fine because you look fine externally.
Take care and be careful

Re: Am I alone

I agree with Danni, you need to take it easy. Even though you may feel really good, there's a lot inside that needs to heal. I had the same surgery and was left with instruction to not lift anything more than 10lbs and to basically take it very easy for about 3 weeks and then start adding things slowly. I know I could have done more than I did, because I felt much better than what I had expected...but, then again, I probably would not have healed as well as I did.

Take care!!

Re: Am I alone

Well in uk it's no to lifting heavy things, no vacuuming, no bending no stretching no driving and no lifting anymore than half a kettle. You have lots of stitches inside than can be ripped appart in early days. That's what our surgeon says. You have to take it easier you could hemoarge also

Re: Am I alone

Im in the uk and i was told not to lift anything heavier than a kettle for at least six weeks. My dh was ignored when he asked whether it was half a kettle, full kettle or a travel kettle I could lift. After my post op at 10 weeks I was told definitely no vacumming or heavy lifting until after 12 weeks. Light shopping eg a loaf bread and light housework is ok. My surgeon stated the body takes 3 months to heal and after that you can do anything you like including specific abdominal exercises if you wish.
