Kinda Vain Question

OK i decided to watch a live hysterectomy web cast, because I wanted to know what would happen to me. I also have been reading everything I can get my hands on. Now for the stupid question. How long do you have the buddah belly or swelly belly for. And how swelly is it? My eldest niece is getting married one month after my surgery, I wanted to buy a dress prior to my surgery as I figure I will be in NO shape to shop afterwards. Is this a bad idea? I have read about severe swelling and mishapen buddah bellies. Should I buy a bigger size. Or maybe I should wait and see. I could always shop online after? i know in the grand scheme of things this sounds really silly. But this wedding is a huge thing for our family and a very formal affair.

Kinda Vain Question

I'm 6 weeks post op and still have swelly belly at night. I did lose about 13 pounds after my surgery so I could wear all my clothes (loose) after a couple of weeks. You might want to wait until after your surgery and have someone take you shopping.

Kinda Vain Question

I'm the same - 7 weeks post-op, lost 10 pounds with a little swelly belly - although it is no where near as big as I was with my fibroid! What I do notice is that the incision area gets tender - today I wore jeans for the first time - and could feel it a bit. Shop around a bit now and as lincolnlady suggested maybe take someone with you afterwards!
Good luck.

Kinda Vain Question

moontt77, you'll still have some. Maybe not as bad or as long, but they're still messing around in there and it's going to swell in response. You'd think, they're taking something out it should shrink, but NOOOOO, nothing's that easy. I had TVH with nothing extra. No rooting around for endo, no moving the bowels around to see, none of the other stuff that can be involved and Yes. I have swelly belly. I can wear pants 1 size larger than before the surgery (11 days post op) or loose knit pants.

Kinda Vain Question

I had LAVH on Dec. 11 and I still have swelling. Some days I can fit into a pair of regular size jeans, and most days I still have to wear the pants that were too big before surgery. It just depends on how much I do. I started back to work today, and I am very swollen tonight. I dont worry, I know that with time I will be back to normal.

Kinda Vain Question

You might want to go buy something now in a size larger but keep the tags on and the receipt with it. When the time comes and it is too big you can always exchange it!!

wow

ok, i had no idea at all! I am sure glad i joined the sisters!! I willl definitely have to repack my overnight bag. I have a pair of scrub pants that would probably be perfect, they are an extra size bigger and very roomy.
next question,, a living will... do you think i am being overdramatic by getting a will together before i go in? I want to be as positive that all the what ifs are covered.
my sister is watching my kids for 2 whole weeks so i have to get her a notarized document to care for them in case of emergency. IS there a free site that covers these things? I dont have alot of money and with six weeks off i am going to be in dire straits~
