I had my 2nd opinion today

I had my second opinion today at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They basically tell me the same thing that my doctor in Minneapolis says. Now I just need to decide if I should have my hyst (TAH) done in Minneapolis or Rochester. I kind of like the idea of going to Mayo because the doctor I saw today does alot of hysts and also the biopsy results only take 20 minutes. (One of the things I'm dealing with is an endometrial polyp that they cannot get to via a D&C because of a big fibroid blocking the way.) I don't think my doctor in Minneapolis does as many hysts and the biopsy results will take a few weeks. I'm worried that my home doctor will be mad at me. I know that sounds stupid. How does a person decide?

I had my 2nd opinion today

During my last pregnancy I THOUGHT I would be better off going to an OB GYN instead of a family dr.(I had always went to family drs) I found one near by and made an appointment. I went to this OB for 17 agonizing weeks. I had bleeding spells and cramping spells. I called him and he didn't seem concerned, so I tried to be not concerned also. At 17 weeks, I began having what I KNEW were contraction pains. I called my "wonderful" OB and his response? "Have you quit smoking?" When I told him no he said "until you quit smoking I will not help you" I had thought off and on about changing drs but was worried he would be "mad" at me for changing. When this issue at 17 weeks came up, I decided "mad" or not....this is MY life!! I am in charge of my life and have to make decisions I feel are right for me....not my dr. I know your situation is much different than mine BUT you still have to do what you think is best for you. Don't worry about your dr., either one of them, being mad at you. You have to weigh out all the options and pros and cons and go with what feels right to you.

Either way I will be praying for a fast, easy, recovery for you....where ever you decide to have the surgery done.

I had my 2nd opinion today

I agree that your decision needs to be the one that is best for YOU, what makes you feel most secure and comfortable. Your dr should be able to be professional and accept your decision. Weigh all the pros and cons and then make the decision that is the best for you and you feel will give you the best outcome.

Do whatever your gut tells you to do.

Mayo is a tremendous facility -- that's where I had mine done. Just be prepared to be the "class project" at least once since it is a teaching clinic/hospital.

My best to you.
