What do you call this type of hysterectomy???

I will be having everything taken out, both ovaries, cervix and uterus. If my doctor does in fact do the laparoscopic hysterectomy that is what my choice will be over an abdomanal hysterectomy. But what exactly is it called and how is it abbriviated. This may seen like a stupid question but I honestly have no idea, LOL. Thank you ladies!

Can't say for sure, but it sounds like a laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy LAVH/BSO.

If the cervix stays, then a LSH/BSO (laparoscopic sub(total) hysterectomy/BSO) sounds like a possibility.

Give the office a call. They will be happy to actually spell it out for you. Ask questions!

Having everything taken out, the uterus, the cervix, the tubes, the ovaries, is abbreviated as: T.A.H/BSO for the abdominal operation.
If having it done through the vagina, it is then T.V.H/BSO.
Some call it a radical hysterectomy.
The BSO stands for (something I can't quite remember how to spell!!!) hopefully some other lady can help you with the full terms! But it is the removal of both the ovaries.
I SHOULD KNOW THIS, I'VE HAD IT DONE!!!

BSO is bilateral salpingo oopherectomy. Fancy word for having your ovaries removed.
