Involuntary Stretching? Weird Question

Hi! Has anyone else experienced this? This seems like a weird question, but here goes:

I am thirteen days out from my surgery. Last night, a couple different times during the middle of the night, I woke up to find my lower torso/abdomen and legs stretching. By the time I really became conscious and stopped it I just couldn't really figure out how many times I had "stretched" .

Is there internal abdominal itching going on which was making me do this in my sleep? Is it involuntary? Am I sleeping in a bad position? And - Could this be ripping internal stitches? Am I just being paranoid?

Thanks so much for any input!

Re: Involuntary Stretching? Weird Question

Hi Recipe Woman, You know I had the exact same thing. I am used to being very active and I would find myself stretching my abs involuntarily. It didn't hurt it just felt like the right thing to do. I know in the first week after surgery I tried to never use them because I wanted to heal. I am now four weeks out and I feel great. Happy Healing!

Re: Involuntary Stretching? Weird Question

Hi ferg!

Thanks so much for your reply. It has really helped put my mind at ease! I am still at the point where I am a bit sore and having different odd pains, so it was making me nervous.

Happy total recovery to you!

Re: Involuntary Stretching? Weird Question

And it happened to me too, somewhere after two or three weeks I think. I worried too about the stitches, but I am recovering very well. But it is weird, isn't to experience a thing like this.

Re: Involuntary Stretching? Weird Question

It happened to me too, - and I started a thread about it here, as well. (You may want to look for it. I think it was called involuntary strong muscle stretching..or something like that.)

It went away about the beginning of the third week, if I recall correctly.

I think my muscles were just screaming to stretch 'cause they weren't getting any use!
