Re: tummy trouble
Milk of magnesium worked best for me. I tried several fiber drinks, they worked somewhat, but take time. I also tried a generic milk of magnesium and it didn't work anywhere near as well as the old, reliable Phillips MoM. Everyone is different, but make sure you drink lots of liquids.

Re: 11 days post hysterectomy - tummy trouble
Oh god not milk of magnesia! I know that works for some people but for me it is way way way too harsh! I had to take it for surgery prep and it doesn't just get things moving - it's like a firehose! Even once I was empty I could not stop going. It was painful! Personally I would be happy never to take that again in my life. I suggrst trying gentler methods first. Colace was the post-op stool softener my surgeon recommended. I used it as directed for several days then tapered off. It's quite gentle yet effective. After that the fruit, veggies & drinking fluids were all that was necessary. Gas pains will happen for a while until things heal up inside. All will get back to normal eventually.

Re: 11 days post hysterectomy - tummy trouble
I tried many different things for what you mentioned as I was really suffering. But this is what worked for me 2 Colace twice a day, Gas X as soon as I feel gas pains, and I drink a large mug of Regularity Ease Tea as well as 96 oz of water. But I can say I swear by this tea as I started drinking it 3 days before my TAH and as soon as they got me up walking in the hospital I passed gas and had my first bowel, pain free. I was seriously amazed and attribute it to this tea. Ive has 3 c-sections and many surgeries for hand, foot and knee and so I know what anesthesia can do to me. I bought this tea at Sprouts a health food store in Southern California.Lifestyle Awareness Regularity Ease Herbal Stimulant Laxative , Organic and quite affordable. I paid a little of $3 for 20 bags.
My husband who had a colectomy due to colon cancer also drinks this and hes completely stopped taking other OTC meds to get relief due to this tea.

smooth move
Hi Sisters, A few of you suggested I try laxative tea. Wow what a difference, I was having very, very painful tummy spasms and I would double over in pain
I bought some smooth move tea yesterday and at first I felt even worse, I guess it was working on all that gas. Last night I went to have a nm and let me tell you I was in there a half hour. I feel so much better. I still have small spasms but I'm going to take the tea one more time.
Thanks for the great advice!
