3 1/2 weeks post op no one takes recovery seriously anymore

RANT!!

I'm doing great! I can't complain. But I'm still tired and after a day of regular taking care of kids I'm usually tired and sore.

In the beginning it was like everyone figured I was a fast healer and it would be like nothing. After a few incidents they realized that's NOT the case. Now, at 3 1/2 weeks post op I have things I need to do but I still need my rest and it's so much better if I can just stay in bed. Sitting up still but after TVH with rectal repair I need to stay off of it and that's the only way.

I've got 2 kids 3 and 6 and when hubby is here he's all about playing with the 6 yo but the 3 year old seems to wake me up every time I'm just about asleep resulting in crap rest.

I still have to drive the kids to school and pick them up and grocery shop and regular stuff minus the lifting but GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Hubby and I had a fight. He said that he was taking all this time off to help and I had to tell him, yeah, you're taking care of them but no one's taking care of me! He finally did get it.

I guess I'm just tired and would like to be left alone in silence for just a little while....

Re: 3 1/2 weeks post op no one takes recovery seriously anymore

Hi there. Here's a for you first.

Three weeks is so early in recovery so don't be hard on yourself about where you are in the process.

As for others' perception, you absolutely have to speak up for yourself and claim that 3 weeks is no time at all and that you need help and rest. It won't make you seem weak, it will show that you are strong and speaking up!

It kind of sounds too me like you are doing a bit too much. You don't want to backtrack on the road of recovery so try to slow down if you can.

If your hubby is open to it, have him go to misterhystersisters.com. It will help him understand what you are going through.

I wish you the best!
