a vaginal sore or ulcer after hysterectomy?

It is sort of embarrassing for me but right after my surgery I noticed a sore spot on the outer part of the vaginal area. I thought it was from the stretching they do to it. Well it is still there and still hurts. Of course I couldn't see it so I got a little mirror and looked at it and it looks like an ulcer or something. Is this normal?

I was already having menopausal symptoms before my hysterectomy and I developed one just a few weeks before. The doctor said it was from dryness. They gave me medicine and it went away in a day or two. If it bothers you call your doctor and maybe they can call something in.

mjm33, be careful with any soreness as it could be lack of natural lubrication, mild thrush (brought on by the stress of surgery), expected pain after surgery or a Bartholin cyst. My ordinary doc - couldn't get in to see the gyno - suggested thrush ointment to cover the first two possibilities but turned out it was a Bartholin cyst which required surgery & 4 more stitches! Nothing is more important than you so if you are at all concerned about ANYTHING, see your dr. Pamper the princess.
