Panic attacks

Hello Everyone!!

I am having my tah (due To endo and palvic pain)june 21st and as the days get closer I feel like I am going crazy, stressed etc . I think I am having panic attacks. I have cleaned just about everything in my house and now am starting to clean the outside, I talked to my doctor and she told me that there is really nothing that I can take. But see I have some zanax left from a script that I got about 6 months ago and was wondering if anyone else has taken this kinda med before surgery?? I was told that I can take this med till the time I walk into the hospital, but then the doctor says no drugs before surgery?? Please help anyone!!!

Panic attacks

Hi Julie,
I know you're scared out of your mind, but self medicating at this point is not a good idea. Follow your doctor's advice about the Zanax.
I did the same with the house cleaning, I think it's like 'nesting', a kind of preparation before childbirth. It's actually not a bad idea, keeps you busy, makes homelife a little easier after you get home.
Talk to your doc again about what you can do to relax, remember millions of us have gone through the same kind of surgery and we're here to support you! If you trust your doc, then listen to her. I'm 2 weeks post op today and although there I still have some recovery, I already feel better. No cramps, no heavy bleeding, no agonizing back pain. So good luck girl, feel better soon!

Go get a massage, honey. If you like it, schedule another one right before surgery. Talk to the massage therapist about your fears, if you want to, not for advice but just for a sympathetic ear. A massage should calm you down a lot.

Panic attacks

I was quite nervous pre-op. Someone suggested that I call my Dr and explain to him how I was feeling. He had no problem prescribing me a 2 week supply of low-dose Xanax to take as needed.

Call your Dr and explain your fears. I'm sure he/she has heard this numerous times and probably has a standard method of dealing with such issues.

Take care
