uhoh what have we done...
OK i know that sex is a big no-no b4 you go to the doctor and are released. We have done really good about not doing anything until now. I have felt so good-no pain or problems other than my bladder leaking a little. It was like we got caught up in the moment and forgot all about my surgery just 2 1/2 weeks ago. Anyways i feel fine today no bleeding or pain. But now hubby is scared to touch me b/c he is scared that we messed up majorly and that when i go back that some thing will be wrong b/c we made love. We were careful and he didnt penetrate me completely. Has anyone else goofed up this way? what are the risks of having sex too soon? Any comment would be appreciated. Hugs sisters!!

Hi~
On the main page if you click on the post op tab then drill down through the various articles you will see some relating to post op sexual activities. You must feel a lot better than me, because even though my libido is raging at times I am in no way ready to resume.
Hope the articles help you.

One of the reasons you are supposed to wait (I had a TVH too!) is because your husband can introduce bacteria into your body, which can bypass your not-yet-healed vaginal cuff and go into your body cavity. That's bad news. Another reason, as you guessed, is damage. If you are really worried, call your doctor. Otherwise, perhaps you can think of other sexually satisfying things that don't involve "the deed".

Hi Michelle!
What's done is done and I really hope you won't repeat having sex--any kind of sex--before your doctor gives you clearance. It's important that you follow your doctors orders so that you have the best possible chance to recover without complications. Some doctors will give clearance for sex other than intercourse but others are more strict. (Mine was strict. ) It's important that you ask your doctor what is and is not allowed and then follow those orders.
Having sex too soon can put you at risk for infection and for tearing your healing incision. I really think you should call your doctor and let him/her know what has happened. Your doctor may want to examine you to be sure everything is okay.
Two articles which are helpful to read are linked below:
Sex - Do I Really Have to Wait Six Weeks?
Sex - Post-Op Libido and Sexual Activities
Let us know what your doctor says, okay? Best wishes as you continue to heal.

I did the same thing too. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and we got caught up in the moment and couldn't stop. I did have some bleeding right after, but it stopped. MY husband said that he could feel something scratchy in there. I would assume they were the stitches. I am embarrased to call and tell the dr, cause at my 2 week appt, I asked when we could resume the deed and he said not for another 4 weeks , and I thought no way can we wait that long. I hope nothing was damaged for you or me, good luck.

What happened?
Hi there. I just submitted the same question as you because I too just had sex last night and I had a partial hysterectomy on June15th. Did you go to the doctor? Can you tell me whatever came of you having sex because I am scared to death that I did something to myself even though I didn't bleed and I feel totally fine.

oneicemaiden,
I havn't called dr and told him, we also had sex and 1/2 weeks but did not penitrate fully, and nothing happened with that, no bleeding or anything. I think we will wait another 2 weeks before we do anything again, just to be safe if damage is not already done. We have been together 15 years and our sex life has always been awsome, and has been hard for us to not do anything, we tried outersex and just couldn't stand it thats when we did something earlier, and last night I just couldn't take it and needed it. Hopefully you will be ok, just be carefull and if you have any "toys" to help yourself maybe thats the answer for now, untill its safe to "enter" anything.

I agree
I completely agree with you. I'm going to wait until my six week visit at this point. There are plenty of other things we can do that will be pleasurable, and it's not worth it to risk my health or healing. I hope you are ok too. Good thoughts.

uhoh what have we done...
well i am guilty of the same. my recovery went so well that i was released a day early from the hospital & 3 day early for driving. we had a very active sex life prior to surgery and i guess between the easy recovery & being able to keep my ovaries (so the drive was still there in a big way) the golden rule was broken. he was almost in tears because he felt so bad about it. he didn't start it and he was extremely careful so he didn't have anything to feel guilty about. after he insisted i tell my doctor and the next day every hour he was calling & emailing asking if i was ok. well the doc wasn't as mad as i thought but i did get scolded. he did make it clear no more until he gave the ok. the way my checkup fell it was 7 weeks and 1 day. the doc had told me over and over nothing before 6 weeks. the first question the doc asked me is if i anything near my vagina. i started giggling and said well doc it has been 7 weeks and 1 day. i was given the all clear and a good lecture about how when he says 6 weeks he means 6 weeks and when he says nothing until he clears me that means when i see him. thank goodness i only had 1 uterus so i won't have to go through that again!!!!
