pre-op clean out

Last time I had the exploratory surgery I got very sick with the fleet soda. Do you think it would be ok just to do an enema? I go to pre-register tomorrow. I think I am going to ask them. One friend said she did not have to do the clean out. she just did not eat after midnight...... Don't I wish

I would talk with your DR about this. They all have their preferences... with my TVH I only had to do the enema and no food or water after midnight, but for another surgery I had a two-day prep involving several rounds of fleet phospho soda and antibiotics.

The important thing is to do whatever your DR asks, because they go into the OR assuming you followed their instructions to the letter.

Good luck with your surgery!

I go today for my pre-registation, so I am going to ask them. I have Crohns disease, so preps really mess with my colon. but enemas don't bother me as much. I will ask today. Thanks

hi nikki.
maybe you could ask if you could do half the fleets prep?
i have chron's as well and when i tried to do two bottles for my colonoscopy i pretty much threw up the second bottle..so it was useless and i was clean with only one.
this time around it was not so bad, i don't feel sick like i did last time.
i am getting ready to go in for my surgery in a couple hours and i don't feel too nasty.
i wish you the best of luck with everything!

Just got back from registration, Doctor agreed to enema instead. Said the whole idea was just to get me clean and that will work fine YIPPEEE
