Post surgery LAVH with ovary and adhesion removal

I am new to this board, but have been reading articles on the site since my surgery almost three weeks ago. I am 53 years old and had a LAVH with removal of remaining ovary on November 2. The hysterectomy was performed because of fibroids and bleeding (no cancer.) My OB/GYN had to bring in a second surgeon to remove numerous adhesions from my past surgeries. (Three C sections, two tubal ligations-one failed, and ablation surgery.) The ovary was removed because of adhesions.

I experienced a lot of painful gas and bloating more than any other surgery. I have also have pain when my organs-bladder, bowel, intestines- function due to the removal of adhesions all over my abdominal cavity.

It's been harder than I expected, but I am a good 25 years older than when I had my last C-section. I am actually doing quite well post surgery. Better than my doctor expected. I still have pain from the surgery itself, but gas and bloating have decreased significantly. I took this site's advice about taking gas-x which helped me get through it. I've been walking a bit everyday and tanking up on water to make sure bowel and bladder function as they should. I have managed to lose the hospital weight and most of the bloating tummy. I do think the fact that I've been up and about (probably more than I should) has helped the recovery. The best thing is that I don't feel sick anymore, just sore. The scar tissue was extensive, fibroids were miserable, and I think I will feel a lot better having all removed in the long run.

I hope this helps someone else as the threads and articles have helped me.
