Question - new to the bladder board! new to the bladder board!

hello everyone, I've been having some bladder leakage since about nov/dec 2005. I was going to the dr anyway for back problems and my GP not to worry about it at the time because my gyn wouldn't do anything about it since I wasn't a year out from my tvh w/prolapse repairs (bladder wasnt leaking at the time by the way). But the leaking is getting worse. I've lost total bladder control several times plus i will go to the bathroom, think i'm done walk away and it starts running down my leg. For a while there i thought i was imagining things. Went to my gp last week and he sent me up for a urodynamics test for wednesday. Well i went in today for an ultrasound on my ovaries as they are causing me pain, and they had an opening for the urodynamics test! so i did them both today. I have cysts on my ovaries and i do have a bladder problem. Apparently i also leak when i cough and laugh but i never really noticed then cause i wear lil pantyliners. So my gyn wants to go a "monarc subfascial hammock" has anyone had this done??? is this just a fancy name for something else?? i will also be having a laproscopic incision to look at my ovaries and to see if there is scar tissue. I'm guessing this is outpatient even with the exploratory lap. Mind you i have 2 kids (5yo and 22 mo old) so as sick as it sounds 1 night in the hospital is fine with me . . So coming home with a catheter with lil spastic children running around does not sound appealing. anyway any advice is welcome! thank you in advance.

new to the bladder board!

I forgot to add that I did not schedule the surgery yet. Dr said it was basically a quality of life type surgery so he was fine with that. I am dealing with a back problem (herniated discs l5-s1, degernative disc disease, facet joint disease) and need to take care of that first. I just took 2 norco pain pills and they seem to be working cause my posts are very long . Did I mention I am only 33!!!!!! ok i'm done hehe thanks again.

new to the bladder board!

I had the Monarc Hammock placed March 2004. The Monarc Hammock is a urethral sling; its placed under the urethra and keeps the urethra closed during stress (coughing/laughing/sneezing/lifting/etc). The procedure takes about 20 minutes; initial healing time is 2-3 weeks with full healing around 3-4 months.
LIke you I also had an exploratory lap done at the same time--adhesiolysis--so I stayed overnight in the hospital.
According to my GYN (who did the procedures) about 50% of patients have to go home with a catheter for a few days due to swelling that occurs around the urethra.

good luck
