I've gone crazy! I just know it!
for my sister Jamie, We will get through this together this wbsite is truly a Godsend ! You r not at all crazy. I believe this experience has been huge for most , if not all sisters. You sound so much like the way I feel. I think expressing those feelings is real healthy. Sometimes I have a big old cry and then I feel a little better. Sometimes I journal and just get everything out on paper where I can just take a good look at my self. I think a good thing about this is the learning experience i am having about what makes me the woman i am . I am so grateful to learn I am complete with or without a uterus. Love and Blessings Carol

I've gone crazy! I just know it!
Carol's Post.. and all of the sister's posts made me think of the poem by Maya Angelou.. "Phenomenal Woman" We are ALL Phenomenal Women!!! So I thought I would write the poem in here. Our femininity is not in our uterus, ovaries, cervix or anything else.. it is in our hearts and nobody can take that away when we are ALL so strong of mind, heart and spirit. God has been good to us all!!
Phenomenal Woman:
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit fashion model size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally,
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down to their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they stilll can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I've gone crazy! I just know it!
All the messages here are what is so great about this place. I don't have that much more to add except that I realized recently that I'm GRATEFUL for the hysterectomy. Before I went in I was terrified despite all the research and reassurances, so I know you are not any crazier than I was then. I went to my gyn, who is wonderful, and told her I was chickening out. I was sort of kidding but not quite. She hugged me and told me that, yes it was major surgery and scary, yes there would be some pain, yes it would take awhile to recover, yes it would be a big change, yes she had done many of these and knew what she was doing, yes I needed to go through with it. The very worst thing about it was the stupid forms you have to sign saying you won't blame the hospital when you die. Everything else went very well for me. I'm now almost 6 weeks post-op from a TAH/BSO for huge soccer ball size fibroids. Except that I get tired quickly, I'm feeling SO much better than before! I can see my feet! I'm free from the horrible flooding periods! I lost 10 lbs. overnight (the hard way) and my posture is greatly improved. My bladder is forever grateful. I fit into my clothes again. I discovered all these wonderful people here at hystersisters. I got a coffee mug. I had time to paint some pictures, read some books, see some great movies instead of working all summer. Do what you need to do to get ready, get a really good doctor, collect on all the hugs available on all sides, take a deep breath and do it.
