Pain when urinating

Ok, so ever since the cath came out after surgery (almost 2 weeks ago) I've had problems urinating. I don't feel the normal urge to go...I know I have to go when I feel incredible pressure, to the point that it's painful. Then I have to try to get it flowing, but I have no problems w/how much I go...but when it gets close to the end...it HURTS!! BAD!

My dr says it's unrelated to my surgery, but I never felt this b4 surgery. The nurse said it could be my bladder waking up from the anesth, but how long does that take?! They said to watch it closely and follow up w/my gp. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm kind of freaking out worrying that i'll never have 'normal' bladder function again. HELP!

Your loyal sister,
Tamara

Re: Pain when urinating

Hi! Sorry - really no help but I have a similar pain when getting to the very end too. The pain didn't start until last week...I have the normal urge to go though, no problem there. I just figured it might be a temporary "thing" from the surgery...I go to the doc for my check up on Tuesday. Maybe I will call tomorrow and see if I should go early. I never had this issue before surgery either and hope it passes! Could it be a bladder infection?

Re: Pain when urinating

Ladies, please check with your doctors. It sounds like you both may have infections, however, please remember that I am not a doctor. Please let us know what your doctors say.

Re: Pain when urinating

It's for sure not an infection. Dr said so today. Ran lots of tests n such. But thanks to it I'm on restriction for another 2 weeks...no bending, lifting, anything.

Re: Pain when urinating

I had an infection post surgery and even after anti biotics still get pain on urinating at the end like you described my GP has taken yet another urine sample but also said it could be muscle spasms from the surgery and they are fairly common, taking sometimes weeks to settle back down.
So go get a urine test and if it comes back good its probably the same thing, muscle spasms!
Best wishes, Jaxi
