Re: Questioning tubes tied vs hysterectomy
Not sure if having the tubes tied led to the hysterectomy as I have never been pregnant so not something I have any experience with. I do know lots of people who have their tubes tied and do not have to have a hysterectomy.
In terms of using a hysterectomy as a means to battle heavy and painful periods, it defiantly will work for that, but I urge you to do more research into other options first. This is major surgery and not something to do lightly. You mention not being able to take medications due to acid reflex and I am assuming you mean birth control options that help with heavy and painful periods, but there are other options out there that don't include taking oral medications. Maybe one of those would work. I myself tried both the Mirena and Depo shot as well as multiple oral BCP that failed before doing the hysterectomy. I had major issues with both non oral trials, but many women find these work well for them. It's at least worth a try before surgery. Even then sometimes they can do a less invasive surgery that can help as well.
I would talk to your doctor and see what they say. Going into s decision of this sort well informed is always a good thing.
Good luck in your decision!!
