2 More days till Surgery...UGH!!
Hello all
I went for my pre-surg testing yesterday...I go in on Thursday...Scared...Part of me wants to back out.
I have decided with my doctor to have a total hyst.
I am so freaked out, really I am.
I really don't know what to write today, just wanted to come here and put down how I am feeling. I feel so depressed for a lot of reasons.
1. I am scared of the actual surgery..
2. I am scared of what they will find during surgery
and....
#3....In 1994 I lost a baby, I was about 7 months pregnant and lost my son. He lived for two hours and then passed away. I was really sick and my placenta abrupted. It was devastating.
Since then, I can't explain it but...I am very emotional about Gyn exams, sex, anything down there. Now it's all going to be gone..My personal parts..gone. That might sound crazy.. but it's really not. Emotionaly I think it will be harder for me than physically.
I keep praying and trying to keep my head up..
Thanks for listening.
Take care

Thursday!
Peridot70,
I too am having a TAH possible BSO in 2 days. I am soo scared. Your not alone. I keep telling myself this over and over. We need to be strong and pull through this with flying colors! I've had 2 c-sections and the most important this I can remember having to find the strength to do is get up! No matter how bad it hurts, get up from the hosp. bed. After a couple of times, you will feel so much better. I know I did. Hope this helps you. Be strong! I'll be thinking about you.

It will bo ok!!
(((((Peridot))))
I just wanted to give you some reassuring hugs!!!
Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns with the emotional part of this process?? Maybe even considered talking to a counselor or professional. It is a very hard adjustment...whether you have been able to have children or not!!! Please realize that you are not alone in your feelings, but if they become too much for you or you begin to experience major bouts of depression for long periods of time you may need to seek out professional help!!
As far as being afraid of what they will find...I was in the same boat!! I went back and forth from worring that my doc would open me up and find absolutely nothing to explain my pain or the it woul be an absolute mess!!! I settled for a happy medium. I had adeno and so all my problems were resolved with the removal of my uterus.
I will keep you in my prayers that all will go well for you and that you will have a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery!!!
Lots of gentle healing hugs coming your way!!!

I echo everything Cat said. Please call your doctor and express your feelings to him. He may be able to help you deal with them, or refer you to someone to talk to. Do you have a minister or someone you feel comfortable with you could talk to?
I don't know why you are having the surgery, but is it possible to postpone it until you have these emotions sorted out? Your emotional well being plays a huge part in your physical recovery.
Please, I'm not a professional and don't profess to be one. But I can read the heartache in your post. Please talk to someone before your surgery. You can never get over the loss of your precious son, and I'm not suggesting you should try. But I urge you to please talk with your doctor and make sure this is the best time to take this dramatic step.
Please let us know how you are doing. My prayers are with you.
Hugs and best wishes.
