This is my first posting but have enjoyed reading your comments. I'm having surgery next week, Nov. 30th. How long was it after the surgery until you could see your loved ones? Any more tips for pre-op or post op things to do?

I saw my husband immediately after, in the recovery room, and then was brought to my room about an hour later.
Best wishes with your surgery, the waiting is the hardest part!

I saw my DH and DD pretty quickly too - or rather they saw me. I was pretty much out of it, slept most of the day. I had people visiting me off and on the day of my surgery, I actually remember seeing some of them
The next day, I was a little more alert and enjoyed the visits more

They let my SO come into the recovery room for a couple of minutes and then as soon as they took me to my room he was there.
You really are pretty drained and tired and after realizing you have come through this and that your loved ones are there, you couldn't care less to do anything but sleep.

Forgot to mention the BEST thing I did - take my pillow from home to the hospital....not sure if you have heard that yet or not but it sure is worth mentioning again
they don't give you enough pillows there (one or two under your head, one between your knees, one by your tummy for sneezing, laughing, coughing, crying, etc...) and the comfort of your own with your own sheet cover is priceless.
