Need loo all night!
Hi I'm new here from England and I must say that it does help to read that you are not the only 1 going through this!
My problem is that I am having to get up 3 - 6 times a night to empty my bladder! Its driving me mad. I am 4 weeks post op, the Dr tested my urine and it was clear.
Has anyone else suffered with this?
Please tell me that this will go away soon!

Need loo all night!
Hi grabbo!
I didn't have to get up as much as you are getting up. If this would continue, I'd ask the doctor again.
Are you drinking lots of fluids into the evening, right up until bedtime? Maybe stopping the fluids an hour or two before bed might help.
Again, if this contines, give the doctor another call. Or if new symptoms begin.
Let us know!
Take care!

Need loo all night!
In my case, the catheter used during my surgery really created havoc in my bladder, causing me to have a feeling as if I had to go all the time. I'd get to the bathroom and discover that there were a few drops! Then within a half hour the same event would occur. So I do know the feeling. It could be that the bladder is still trying to get back into shape from the catheter. They blow up a little balloon to keep the thing in there, and sometimes it gets blown up too far and it or the catheter end bumps against the interstices (soft tissues) in the bladder. My guess is that it will take awhile for your bladder to heal.
I determined that my situation was greatly assisted if I did not have green tea, cranberry juice, sodas (anything carbonated, including oxygenated water), regular tea, and coffee (anythnig caffeinated). I reduced tomato intake (anything acidic). Even today, nearly two years later, I have bladder problems (feeling like I have to relieve it all the time), and I stay away from the caffeine and carbonated beverages. I'm totally off wine and beer now, a real downer for me! But the changes in diet help me feel more like I used to feel in my bladder. I imagine the bladder has scar tissue or something from the procedure.
I hope your situation changes soon. It's not comfortable. I had urine tested and mine came back without infection, too. Frustrating, but I managed to detect dietary things that caused irritation and can control it that way.

Need loo all night!
Hi Grabbo,
I experienced the same thing. I thought it would never end. I watched how much I drank after dinner but that really didn't make the problem go away. Gradually the frequency DID change. I may get up once now and sometimes not at all. I think it is a combination of things..... surgery, anesthesia, catheter? Just remember, when in doubt, ask your doctor.

Need loo all night!
Hi Grabbo!
I am six weeks post-surgery tomorrow. I, too, have to get up several times a night! It is really wrecking havoc on my sleep cycles. (I am a member of the second-half-century-club and already had a bit of insomnia). I hope it will get better as time goes on.
I have no daytime incontenance and didn't have any trouble with the catheter at the hospital (first time to the bathroom after its removal and I had 400 ml volume). But once I lie down at night, I need to go every couple of hours.
I try not to drink anything after about 6 pm (bummer as I love to have a beer with dinner). Some nights are better than others (I get up once or twice instead of 5 or 6 times). I break down and take a sleeping pill a couple nights a week to keep up with my sleep -- don't want to go crazy on my husband afterall!
I imagine it will get better in time. But I am open to other suggestions.

Need loo all night!
Well today I am 5 weeks post op and things are looking up!
I have only had to get up 2-3 times for the last 3 nights and the feeling that I had to wee all day has gone too so I think my bladder is finally settling down thank goodness. I am getting a much better nights sleep and my tummy doesn't feel as sore or swollen either.
I was also able to go pad free for the first time in 11 years yesterday! Amazing!
I am on such a high right now, hope it lasts!

Need loo all night!
Hi Grabbo, I am 5 weeks today as well, and from Derbyshire! I was up every couple of hours to start with as it hurt when my bladder got so full, but it gradually improved and I only get up once usually. I wish I could sleep through the night though without having to keep turning over and throwing the covers off, I get so hot in bed! I sometimes have to think to go to the loo in the day, it's a real change from every half an hour before the op!
Take care!
Helen.

Need loo all night!
Hi ladies! I will be 7 weeks post-op this Thursday. It has only been in the last week that my sleep cycle is finally back to pretty much normal! I've had insomnia for about 5 years, and it was so much worse after the surgery. Up 5-6 times a night for the bathroom, then couldn't fall back asleep quickly. It was exhausting!
I am on black cohosh and a couple of weeks ago I upped my doseage a tad (one capsule at night, plus an extra one with breakfast M/W/F) I don't know if that is what helped my sleep, or if it was just the passage of time. But I am now back to my normal routine of getting up only once in the night. And I no longer feel like I have to pee every couple of hours.
So hang in there. It does get better. And sleep is such a wonderful thing!
