Re: giving birth to your uterus??

thank you for recommending that to me! I'm a huge reader and it'll give me something to do while I wait, ha! it looks good. I don't think I've done a good job in asking questions and maybe it'll help with asking the right ones also?

Maybe. It's more a book *about* cancer than a guide for patients *with* cancer. Did you check out the articles and discussion forum at https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/view_cancer.htm?

Re: giving birth to your uterus??

*sigh*. I share some of your concerns. I've only been married for 2 1/2 years so I still consider myself a newlywed. My sex life was amazing and has now dwindled to a chore that I'm afraid to participate in because of the discomfort and bleeding afterwards. I'm praying my husband and I can return to something that's close to normal. I'm afraid of things seeming "different" especially for him. All of the ladies I've talked to said things were great afterwards and I'm praying for the same results.

I pray for a safe surgery and speedy recovery for you. We have to stay positive and KNOW that we're going to be ok.

He will pull my uterus thru my vagina (along with my cervix???) and then sew me up like a taco? really??? I've had 3 children, all by cesarean, and the FIRST time I will ever give birth this way, is to my own uterus??? ugggghhhh not how I imagined. I'm a single mom, but what will sex be like after? with a sealed up internal taco? sorry to be crude, but its what I'm thinking about...

this wasn't in my plan. ever.

"excuse me," (future boyfriend) "I need to get the ky jelly... for, I have no lubricating glands..."

at least I'm not focused on my current discomfort or bleeding eh? super sexy.

thanks for reading my vent

Hi hippercysta, we are so glad you've joined us! I am very sorry to hear of your cancer diagnosis, I understand how frightening it is to hear those words. Please feel free to post in the GYN Cancer Forum, there are wonderful women there to offer information and support for you on this journey.

I had a TVH due to cervical dysplasia. When my GYN told me my surgery would be done vaginally, I felt rather freaked out. I actually asked for an abdominal incision! The thought of everything done vaginally, and my uterus removed through my vagina did not appeal to me at all. But I trusted him, as he felt strongly that the less invasive my surgery, the better off I would be. The "vaginal cuff" is another topic that greatly concerns women... I've never heard it compared to a "taco" before, most doctors compare it to the end of a tube sock... but neither one is a very appealing comparison!

Vaginal Cuff: What Is It?

We are all so different, and each have our own experience with hysterectomy. It's difficult to say with certainty what sex will be like after your surgery. My husband says sex feels just the same for him, which was a great relief to me. For me sex does feel different, and my orgasm is weaker. Here are some articles:

Will Sex Be Different After Hysterectomy?

As for lubrication, if you keep your ovaries this shouldn't be an issue. I spoke with my doctor before my surgery and she assured me that the lubrication is secreted through glands in the walls of the vagina, not from the cervix or uterus. I notice no difference at all in my natural lubrication.
