feeling totally over whelmed!
I am having a total hysterectomy and a anterior/posterior hernia repair on the 3rd of August. I am a single working mother of two great children. However I feel totally over whelmed. I have had surgeries before to the aspect of "going under" does not bother me. That hasn't stopped the fact that I have been crying for over a week now and think that I am loosing my mind. My boss doesn't understand what I am going through (yes it's a man) and my office is so small that know one knows what I can possibly be thinking.
I don't have any family that will help me out. I'm having to rely on friends that may or may not help me. The father of my children has said that he might beable to take the kids for 10 days while I'm having surgery and recoverying. I'm going to be missing a lot of work and pay checks. And the few people that I can find to talk to are telling me that I will need to be off of work for a month
I know that I need this surgery done. I'm tired of the bleeding and the pain all the time. I know that this surgery will correct that problem, but for some reason I just can't stop crying. All I really need to know is this feeling normal???

((((LISA)))))
Lisa you have a lot on your plate. Any one of the challenges in your life would cause major stress but to be burdened by all of them at once is a superstress situation. The crying is a normal reaction to stress. You are not loosing your mind, your body is dealing with the physical strain it is being put under.
Whenever I get overwhelmed it helps me to make a list of the problems then I cover it up with another piece of paper. After saying a little prayer and taking a deep breath I uncover the first problem and write possible solutions to that problem. Then I go onto the next one and so on. This helps me visualize and individualize each problem. I know if you have multiple big problems its disasterous to look at them as a whole. break them up into sections and try to find solutions. This technique doesn't always bring me solutions to all the problems but it does reduce the stress level somewhat.
Do you attend a church? Maybe the members might volunteer to watch your children. Will you be able to apply for temporary benefits from the state while you are off work. I know some states give emergency aid to folks to help them out. I wish you lived near me ,because I would watch your kids! You should give your ex a kick in the butt!
My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Cry as much as you feel the need if people don't understand thats their problem.
Hugs & Prayers,

I agree, you have many things you are responsible for...and you're facing a very frightening and serious surgery. I think it's very normal to be feeling as you do. Crying is a healthy release for your anxiety and fear. I wish I had been able to cry before my surgery....I was so terrified.
With some planning and help, you will be able to do this. Call on whomever you can to help, and take your ex up on his offer. Don't be alarmed at your reaction to this emotional roller coaster...you're doing fine, and we'll all be here to help in any way we can. You hang in there, and cry all you want!!!!!

Dear Lisa,
Yes the crying is normal. Let it all out. There are a lot of things going on now and the emotional strain of your surgery.
I wish I could be there for you too.
The good Lord will not abandon you never, he will provide, for you and your family. He will open many windows for you, Confide in him. In these trying times we need to really put our faith to work. You will remain in my prayers.
Sincerely your friend, Eliza
