emotional with ovaries?!

hello, a new sister. I have been post op 1 week. TAH and kept ovaries for hormone- yet I seem so emotional. Like I might cry over anything or nothing. I had two c-sections in the past so the pain is similar and I know I am surely doing better. I wonder if all the surgery has left my ovaries in limbo- do they work -how will I feel- please help- any advice I appreciate. Have a blessed day!

emotional with ovaries?!

You are exactly where I was.... I cried in the castle because they brought me tomato soup 3 days in a row. I cried when the Dr.'s office (my dr. was out of town) wouldn't prescribe any more pain med's a week out because dr. wasn't in. I cried because i wasn't sleeping and then, I felt better. Now, I am almost 4 weeks out and it seems my ovaries are finally starting to kick in! My dr. said anytime you touch them or move them around they are kind of in "shock" and take a while to come back around. Each of us are different and how they respond are different. Not to scare you but I have also had some hot flashes. I hope now that my ovaries are responding a little that those subside also! Good luck and please know that you are not the first who wants to poke them and tell them to wake up!

emotional with ovaries?!

Hi bjnewman! I'm so glad you found us here at HysterSisters!

I'm sorry you're having such a tough time emotionally. Please know that you're not alone! There is a good article about the up-and-down emotions that can happen after surgery - you can reach it by clicking here. Your ovaries CAN go into a bit of "shock," which makes sense considering the huge ordeal your body has been through.

Please call your doctor to talk about this - it may be helpful for them to track how you've been feeling, and they may be able to offer you some relief. In the meantime we're here for you!
