way post op (10 months) abdominal pain
So, my partial hysterectomy was done 11/2/09. They did the full incision.
I still cannot do anoything with my abs without feeling pain....it has moved around in time, and currenty, the pain is about 2 inches below my navel, and goes across the whole abdomen.
Is this normal????

Re: way post op (10 months) abdominal pain
From what I have been reading here I don't see that pain after 10-12 weeks is normal - I would call my doctor and make an appointment to be looked at and treated.
Hopefully some can chime in on this,
Let us know what happens!

Re: way post op (10 months) abdominal pain
In pain here too. My stomach is killing me. Returned from Dr visit today. She said its scar tissues. I'm suppose to massage it out. I started that 2 months ago. one side is improved, but overall, guts hurt worse. Stabbing in left side. She gave me RX for Elavil? (haven't picked it up yet) to desensitize my brain about the pain is my understanding.
Are you going to see the Dr?

Re: way post op (10 months) abdominal pain
well, i had the wonderful experience yesterday of being stung by a wasp in the car and jumped out of it...if someone had only had a video camera...anyway ended up going to primary care dr b/c pain in left side became much worse. he said i tore an adhesion connecting my bowel to a ligament on my pelvis. 2 days bedrest and not much better. i am getting MORE depressed at this point. probably going to go back to pcp not obgyn...obgyn just thought i was some kind of pain pill junkie...definately not (don't even take anything but tylenol mostly). I AM IN PAIN! anyway, good luck with the elavil. it is an antidepressant. once you start it don't just quit or you will feel like you are losing your mind. taper off it. hope you get some relief!

Re: way post op (10 months) abdominal pain
I'm so sorry about your tear! That's awful. How was the PcP able to make such a specific diagnosis? Ultrasound?
They keep giving me antidepressants to treat my pain because the dr says it desensitizes it. It sounds like I'm in for a long road of pain. I have the Elavil now but I'm not sure I'm going to take it.
I want to treat the PAIN so I won't be DEPRESSED. I think you understand that. Why doesn't the DRs??
Dr said left side is more swollen than right side. I meant to measure the other day - but I think i don't really want to know! Labor day weekend, I relined my daughter's dresser drawers and...OW! I could not even button my pants the next day!
BTW, a friend of mine had fibromaygia (sp?), couldn't even tolerate the brief massage from a manicure. But then she got frequent body massages and now she doesn't have it.
tc, t
