Hormone Help

Hi everyone. I'm 8 days post-op. This site has been an invaluable source. Feeling good except problems with HRT. Felt like I was totally unprepared and unaware of potential problems in this area. Came home from hospital on day 3 with the Climara generic patch and felt good until day 4. I started having headaches on and off. Day 5 & 6, my headache never went away. (One weird thing is I am able to sleep during the night and feel the best when I first wake up.) I was hoping when I put on a new patch today that my problems would be resolved. Now I feel nauseous and I still have a HA. Did anyone feel unprepared for this "hurdle"? Any advise would be appreciated. Oh, I called Dr on day 5. He felt HA might be from anesthesia. I was under for over 5 hours.

Re: Hormone Help

Hi jul24,
There isn't enough discussion about HRT with the surgeons who are removing our ovaries. I was just happy that mine agreed to HRT and didn't ask enough questions. I have my post op next week and its at the top of my list for discussion. I'm not happy with the patch and want to look into taking an oral med or maybe even try going without. Sorry to hear about your headaches. Its certainly worth checking into. Is there any possibility that the HA are being caused by pain meds? Hope you're feeling better soon ((((( hugs )))))

Re: Hormone Help

Thank you for your reply ChrysalisMoon. I've considered the meds, but I'm only taking Ibu and Tylenol. I got off the Tylenol with Codeine on day 4 because it makes me feel so foggy.

Keep me posted on your journey.

Re: Hormone Help

Hi jul24, did you have a spinal for pain relief during your op? Sometimes headaches can be caused by a small loss of spinal fluid. Hope you soon start to feel a bit better.
