Sores in my throat- post hysterectomy

My throat has been in excruciating pain since post-op day 3 and when I look I have a cluster of visible, white cold sores on the back of my throat. Was this due to the breathing tube? Why did it take 3 days to feel the severe pain? What can I do to treat it?

It may have taken 3 days to feel the pain because of the pain meds you were under for surgery, or the pain meds you are taking now, or because the body is weird that way sometimes.

I gargled several times a day for several days with warm salt water. It healed. If you aren't feeling better in a few days, or spike a fever, call your doctor.
