How to act when seeing people now?

Dear Radiance,
I am so sorry that you are going through rough time.
I myself have been really open about everything. This also means that I have been blessed with so many positive experiences from so many people that I actually was surprised. Naturally there has been a few "nasties" but they quickly disappears in the sea of the good ones.
I have always been one of those types who was very open, so I have not even spend time thinking it may be weird that other people know what has happened to me. Another reason is that I come from a country with a royal family, and our head of state is a very wise humanitorian woman. Years back she had the same surgery and went public with it to help other women in the same situation. I find that pretty cool!! - and if she managed to do it so can I.
I usually tell people that I was diagnosed with cancer and had to undergo surgery to be better. Anyone gets that - man or woman. If I feel like telling more I can and if not people nornally don´t ask but are really helpfull and kind.

Big hugs from me,
Sophie

I have been in Survival Mode again and not been online at all.
I feel the same way. Let's not add to recovery, I get that, but I may be faced with my family tearing apart like my insides one day. (My husband and I are like adenomyosis and my body) It is what it is. I love that we can say that here and the kid's teacher isn't reading this...or if she is, she doesn't know it is us. It may not happen. Who knows at this point, I have hung in there for 12 years. I am good with hanging in there with pain, that's why I put this surgery off for so long.

I hope for your sake, whatever happens, you have more good days than bad. I mean that in a good way, I hope we all do, some people just have more of them than others. We all have a different experience with the same stuff. That's what I love so much about this site.

How to act when seeing people now?

I am a high school teacher who faces 120 kids a day. I had a pain episode which landed me in the ER and facing this surgery. I had to work the month between that trip to the ER and the surgery. I couldn't hide it to my class because the first week back I could barely stand or walk around which is what I usually do from bell to bell as I teach 5 classes a day. I had also been out sick a week in November due to the episode so I was honest with them. I did not give all the gory details, but told them I had female problems and needed surgery and then focused on getting them prepared for the sub. I found that they really just wanted reassurance that I would be ok. From the start I decided that I would have a positive attitude about this whole thing. They were so great and interestingly enough a couple of the boys stayed after class and said you know Mrs. H. my mom had the same thing and she's fine and you will be too. I told only my coworkers who I worked closely with that would be affected by my abscence and of course my principal. Everyone was very suportive and no one asked me weird questions, but if they had I guess I would have used humor and gently explained. We should in no way feel embarressed about a hysterectomy or that we need to hide it. For me it is a wonderful chance at a new beginning of my life free of pain and suffering.

How to act when seeing people now?

My own 12 year old daughter asked why I can't go back to teaching. She made a simple suggestion of just remaining seated all day. Wow, I should have thought of that. Maybe I'll go back early. HA! At least my loving husband and parents understand. It has only been 9 days of recovery for me! is what I say to those that don't understand.
