comic relief
Hey, fellow ladies-in -waiting!!
I thought you might like some comic relief for today! On Monday, I went for my pre-op with my MD. Since I homeschool, all 3 kids had to go with me. Well, we had an hour long wait before we even got into a room. The kids did so well during the wait, that I didn't even anticipate any trouble in the room....BIG MISTAKE!!!! As soon as the MD walked into the room, they cut loose! Anyway, my doc was very understanding, and managed to answer most of my questions in between me shushing my kids. But, when I asked him how long I would be in the hospital, he said 2 nights, then laughed, looked at the kids, and said , "Well, maybe I should keep you 3 nights!!" He is really a great doc, and actually will give me the third night if I want because I will not have much help at home. So....If you want an extra night in the castle, just take your kids to your pre-op!!!!

Hi Kcrohn:
I really lol when I read your post. Sounds like your doctor
has a good sense of humor and is very understanding.
If I took my daughter to the pre-op visit, my doctor would
keep me in the hospital for a least a month. She is gifted
and boy can she talk your ear off and stress you out, so I
hear you. And wow you have three to deal with, I admire
you.
Hope everything goes well for you, I wish you a fast
recovery, because if anyone needs it you really do, with
three little ones at home.
May God bless you and your family, I will pray for you.
Hugs,
Nurs

Kids and our troubles
Just had to share this one. When I was being diagnosed I had to bring my daughter to my ultrasound. I thought I was going to go crazy because I had to pee so much. Also, she was hungry, so we stopped for a happy meal. She had to come into the room with me as they didn't have a waiting room, then, she had to sit in a chair right at the bottom of the bed. When the lady put the ultrasound device on my stomach I thought for sure urine would blow out of me all over her! Then they told me I was over full could I please empty my bladder half way (right!?!). Now the best part, they then did the transvaginal with the probe. She made my daughter move to beside the bed in this little space all the while she continued to eat her french fries. Poor thing kept saying "what's that" when the screen would display an image. Finally when it was over the lady started to put the exam table down and my daughter was yelling "please don't squish me!" What a comedy! Dont blame the poor kid if she never goes near a diagnostic center again!! Wonder what would happen if I took her to the OR????

Too funny! I'm glad your doc had a good sense of humor, he will aid you in your recovery that way! Let us know if you do get 3 nights...
Gifted kiddos are wonderful aren't they? We were blessed with two girls that talk everyones ears off! They still do this and they are halfway grown!
Mmmmmmmmmm, french fries!

kcrohn, I can relate to your kids..I posted over on the Kool Aid Man thread the gist of the conversation I had with my twins postop,I don't even want to imagine what they would have come with to the MD preop!
One was concerned, the other wanted me to save my staples..who are those special effects guys from the movies? Rick Baker,Stan Winston? I keep thinking, maybe this is what their mothers had to endure as well
Well,at least your three will find your surgery interesting..it's healthier than fear..

What a great Dr. My Doctor has a note by the receptionist that says " If you bring your children, we will reshedule your appointment, we are not babysitters and do not want to deal with your children. This appointment is so we can take care of you. not your children. You need this time to discuss your own healthcare and if you bring children we will reschedule you."
I'm older without children at home. but I've never seen a child in
the waiting room. I think this was a little harsh, but the receptionist says they do inforce it, that "'DR" ( don't you love it when thyey say that) wants to give you full attention without
distraction from your children, this is your time to take care of your health without any distraction. But this guy is also a a Dr that delivers babys. I think he schedules the old broads needing hysterectomy on a different day than the young mothers becvause I have never
seen a young pregnant woman there.
