You really start to feel better??? My hysterectomy (TVH) is Sept 6th, my birthday is 1 week after surgery and I know everyone is different, so I just kind of want to get an idea about the different responses here, knowing that everyone has different pain tolerances and heal differently. Just kind of curious how I will be feeling on my birthday. Thanks gals, I am soo very happy to have found this sight, it has made me feel so much better in the short time that I have looked around. Thanks

HUGS

Carol

Everyone is different. I gather that for some, recovery is painful and complicated, and for others, it's pretty smooth. My TVH/BSO was Aug 17, and I am feeling less moody and anxious, less weepy, and better overall than I did before the surgery. I am not taking any drugs -- no painkillers and no HRT (my decision) -- so these feelings of wellbeing can't be attributed to my medicine cabinet. I get tired and do nap about once a day now, instead of two or three times a day, but other than feelings of tiredness, obviously because I'm healing, things are going pretty well. Remember, I have external incisions from the BSO (they used Da Vinci robotics), and it seems as if you will not have those. Be brave, Carol, and let us know how things are going for you, esp on your birthday! It could be you'll feel better than you might be able to imagine right now.

A week after mine, I was still on painkillers, but otherwise... I hate to say it... but I was perky I could have handled sitting in a comfy chair and participating in social fun, though. My appetite was practically nil, though, and I didn't have the energy to pay attention to anything for sustained periods of time. 10 days after surgery, a week after coming home, I was able to do a company picnic but that just involved walking to the table and then back to the car awhile later

Hi,
At one week I was very tired, but had little pain. At that point I was taking only one advil 2x a day. I must repeat though - very tired. I would say rest as much as possible and you will enjoy your birthday. Be extra spoiled that day!!!

I agree

Everyone is different especially in those first few weeks. By the end of the first week, I was tired, not moving quickly, still getting some of the drugs out of my system, but maintaining pretty well on Motrin. I wouldn't plan a huge party in a restaurant--something quiet at the house will probably be what you'll be up for. So have a good trip to the castle and a wonderful birthday--you can be a double princess!

hi, i had a tvh i was one of the lucky ones i had no pain at all, ( i actually thought the dr done nothing) had no pain killers but was very very very tired, but i also have anemia which would contribute to that.this is my 4th week post op. and i still get tired. i to suggest that you have a small party at home your family and friends will understand, you will feel more comfy at home and you can still wear your pjs. have a great birthday
