Re: Bowel Movements
You,shouldn't have pain during a bowel movement. I would try taking stool softners and eating fibre to help along with no pain. Along with water, you should be walking more to move things along.

1 week post hysterectomy bowel movement pain
Same as you time wise. It's getting better. Still very gassy when I eat. And if I revert to any junk food(I snorted a pie the other night was so hungry) I get diarrhoea!
Think it's part and parcel of surgery and possible surgeon touching bowel during surgery.
Kiwi fruit worked a treat for me in morning and prune juice. I'm now walking a few times a day. And lots of water works too.

Re: Bowel Movements
Thanks. I am a nurse, so I know it is part of after surgery, I just didn't expect it to last so long, or be quite so painful. I have been taking a stool softener. Getting to the point where I don't want to eat much cause of have to go after.

maybe contact your surgeons office to put ur mind at ease? Looks like everyone progresses at different times. I felt last week like I had developed allergies to all foods due to pain when eating. Today (10 days post op) was first time I've eat food other than toast and bananas!(and pies..)

Re: Bowel Movements
I was having issues with constipation post op and I took slippery elm bark with wonderful results. Easy to eliminate with no pain or diarrhea:-)

In addition to taking regular walks, and drinking plenty of water - enough so that your urine is clear or pale yellow - try peppermint tea. Also try supplementing your diet with magnesium, which promotes proper bowel function; food sources include leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and dark chocolate. Try making a smoothie with almond milk, cherries, spinach, and ground flaxseeds; that's what ultimately worked for me. Another way to encourage pain-free movements is to sit on the toilet with your knees drawn into your chest, and your feet elevated on a low stool; this straightens the rectum, so the poop can pass through without straining or pain. Here's hoping you'll be back to 💩 soon!

Re: 1 week post hysterectomy bowel movement pain
I can't give any advice because I'm where you are. My bowels are not my friend right now. I was Very gassy after eating. That seems to be lessening. It is painful when it seems like gas bubbles get "stuck". I've been walking alot and drinking alot. Stool softener seemed to give me diarrhea. Hoping to win the poop war soon!
